Matt Karakilic.

I’m a UX professional from beautiful Vancouver, BC. I have a Bachelor of Science degree, with a major in Interactive Arts and Technology (SIAT), and a concentration in Design and Media Arts at the Simon Fraser University (SFU). I have over 15+ years in the UX/Design industry, and I cover all areas of UX and Design. I enjoy helping customers with their business strategy especially on conceptual & feature analysis. Paper sketching, wireframing, and creating prototypes are my favourite things to do! Discovering user journeys and flows, and doing usability evaluations as well as user testing and user research are also must haves in my process! I believe the data from analytics tools is one part of the story we hear, and we need user testing and research to understand the story as a whole.

Specialties:
Leadership / Management - Product Management - User Experience (UX) - Interaction Design (IxD) - User Research - Information Architecture (IA) - Usability Testing - Concept Design - Application Design

  • Work with product managers, business analysts, and engineers to deliver products from Minimum Viable Product (MVP) state to ‘finished’ state. Act as Product Owner to be sure to log down UX requirements and follow up with implementation.

  • Being sure that every aspect of the user experience has been covered from wireframing to prototypeing to research as well as iteration of the design.

  • Delivering working prototype to give the feeling of how finished product may look and feel as an end product. Also to focus on small but important interactions throughout the application design i.e: Sent animation of an email

  • Gathering enough data to take the necessary steps in the UX process. This could be competitors’ analysis or testing some early prototypes with users and capturing that data as well as using tools like Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics or Pendo like tools to see where the bounce happens in the website or in user journey.

  • To be sure that IA is up to date, and still serving the customers the way it’s meant to be after all the new categories, products being added.

  • Having surveys and interviews to all the way card sorting, tree testing to usability testing sessions and anything above and beyond.

  • To align everyone that we are in the same page…starting as simple as paper sketch to wireframe to almost finished designs. This way team can see where our vision is going as well as whether we are aligned on our priorities and deliverables that we agreed upon.

If you think good design is expensive, you should look at the cost of bad design.
